charityshopchallengeshoes.jpg

No it's not a ghost! The Bag Lady's Laura is back at Shiny Towers albeit in video for where she models a fab pair of Solea shoes I got in a charity shop. If you're not interested in shoes we also do a mean impression of a camel, so check that out!

Shiny Fashion TV: Charity Shop Challenge with Isabelle

isokimcharityshopvidjeans.jpgIf anything is going to prove just how ridiculous us Catwalk Queen girls can be then this is it. (I blame the afternoon Tesco doughnuts!)

Isabelle, queen of the charity shops (or "chazza shazzas" as they're known around our office), has been at it again this time at Oxfam on Drury Lane in London's Covent Garden. She found a great pair of almost new dark denim skinny jeans for £6.99 from Henneys. Click image right to play video.

Love charity shopping but don't have the time? Then check out what's available online at Oxfam, like this Karen Millen jacket for £19.99.

Vintage floral tea dresses from Dorothy & Evelyn

dorevlynD0086.jpg

Vintage online shops can be a little questionable, sometimes there is a lack of descriptions or photographs, or the prices are too high. One vintage online store I’ve come to love in the last day or so is Dorothy & Evelyn, an Australian-based vintage store. I’ve discovered they stock the odd Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld piece (including a scary looking pair of pants), but my favourite piece so far is a pair of vintage Chanel heels and their selection of evening and tea dresses.

We're all in a tizzy as well as Candy Says recently opened their showcase store in Battlesbridge, Essex where you can try some great vintage threads from a selection. I can't wait to make a day trip down there and nab some bargains!

Print dress from Pork Chop Vintage

printporkdress.jpgThis pretty print dress from Pork Chop Vintage is a lil bit '80s and a lil bit '50s in fact it reminds me of '80s film The Breakfast Club.

I love the rolled shoulders and belted waist that gives an easily cinched figure. Team it with grey tights and patents for a cool monochrome look or go for something jauntier with a bright belt and opaques to chase the winter blues away.

Happily for us Pork Chop Vintage have reduced this dress from $26 to an even cheaper $18 which means that the next time I visit the Pork Chop Vintage site I expect it to be sold... Now scoot!

Comme des Garcons available at Topshop

commedescarsonstopshopnew.jpg

Been ogling over the Comme des Garcons show at Paris Fashion Week and sighing over the fact that you'll never be able to afford any of it? Well sigh no more because Topshop has got its sticky paws on some fabulous Comme des Garcons pieces from the 1980s for its Archive store. The deconstructed, drapery designs are just as fashionable now as they were back then, such as the items I've picked above. Keep reading for product details...

Grab a stylish read - Alligators, Old Mink & New Money by Alison and Melissa Houtte

aon.jpgI grabbed a copy of this book by chance before a long train journey, and by the time I was back in London, I was thoroughly sucked in and thought it was definitely worth a mention here. Part memoir, part vintage shopping guide, 'Alligators, Old Mink & New Money' is a unique look at one woman's journey from strutting on the catwalks of Paris to opening a quirky vintage boutique in Brooklyn. If you love shopping for second hand bargains and vintage classics, Alison Houtte's tips on where to shop and what to look out for are great, and the characters you meet throughout the story - from her homeless handyman to her outrageous regular customers - will keep you hooked to the story.
