Loads of catwalk shows for Autumn / Winter featured lace, crochet, knit or textured tights. Of course, not all of us can shell out a few hundreds squids for a pair of Rodarte originals. Luckily, CQ is on the case, with some affordable alternatives that you can buy online. Look no further than our top five lacy tights...

London is buzzing as preparations are made for the Sex And The City movie premiere tonight. But what does a girl do when her invitation has been lost in the post? Here are our top ten things to do to celebrate SATC without walking down the red carpet this evening...
1. Have a DVD party instead
Take one Sex And The City box set, add a few of your best girlfriends (let's say three), some wine and some snackettes. Wear white ribbed vests with black bras underneath and smoke in your bedroom. Et voila, you're almost Carrie!
Luella kicked off the trend for tiny florals with her Spring/Summer collection and teamed it with bat-print tees, boots and blazers for an eclectic, youthful look. Both Lily Allen and Kimberly Stewart have already been spotted in Luella's punky florals.
Naturally the high street isn't far behind with a varied selection of cute flippy flowery skirts.
For some reason most of them have been named 'Ditsy', maybe we need to send the garment factories a thesaurus huh?
To get a slice of Luella style chic team with '90s influenced pieces and humourous accessories; retro tees, denim jackets and loafers will give the girly skirts a bit of style and punch. My favourite is the Warehouse skirt, which has a great shape and the most distinctive pattern of the five. See after the jump for the selection and full product details.

The Academy Awards is always a frockfest but celebs so fear the wrath of fashion pundits that their Oscar choices are often quite bland. I've picked some of my favourite unusual dresses from the event and while they might not be to everyone's liking they show that you can look hot without resorting to the strapless fishtail uniform. See after the jump for my rundown, I'm saluting them for going out on a limb!

I'm all for trying something a little more adventurous than your average party dress, so I've picked top five party shorts. How fun do the words party shorts sound? Anyway from the OTT high-waisted lamé shorts from American Apparel (where else?!) to the grown-up glam of French Connection's wool shorts you're bound to find something that suits you. Liven things up with a pair of patterned or coloured tights, or if you want to go for the bookish look try lace up shoes with a shirt and some sparkly tights for contrast.

I love a good cardie, they're great this time of year when you're slipping them on and off every 1/2 hour. In the spirit of finding the best cardigans I've complied my top five essential cardigans so you never need have a bad cardigan day again. My favourite cardigan is the shrug, especially when accompanied by a batwing sleeve as it gently warms the shoulders without being excessive and can be easily slung off. Another essential is the boytastic cardie, it looks great with girly dresses or jeans. Nick it off your flatmate/boyrfriend/brother or go to Topman or Uniqlo for one of your own. See after the jump for the rest of the pick and product links.
