Our hardworking interns have been all over the exhibition tents gathering snippets of gossip and news for your enjoyment at London Fashion Week. In this installment they have been talking to the exhibitors and the barman at the Chambord bar, located at the BFC tent, to get their views on how LFW is going.
Hadley Freeman, the deputy fashion editor at the Guardian is beloved by fashionistas and fashion-haters alike for her entertaining and witty take on fashion's whims and excesses. Her book 'The Meaning of Sunglasses, A Guide to (Almost) All Things Fashionable' is out on Thursday so we met up for a chat about fashion, feminism and shorts. We'll be posting the interview up later in the week so check back if you want to find why Hadley got her job in a competition and what makes her look like a character from Shakespeare.
The atmosphere was controlled madness as we returned to the On|Off offices to interview Richard Sorger. He was in fine spirits and explained some of the themes behind his latest collection which debuts on Wednesday at the On|Off catwalk show.
We're two days away until London Fashion Week kicks off so we decided to catch up with someone who is a regular on the LFW circuit, the vivacious Brix Smith-Start, co-owner of Start Boutique in Hoxton. In this, the first of our LFW Buyer's Diaries, we chat to Brix about what she looks for at a show, which designers she is excited to see, and most importantly how she survives the week! Catwalk Queen make YOU over. The results of our 'Win Your Mate A Makeover' competition with Guess Watches
Just before Christmas, we ran an amazing competition with Guess Watches that allowed one lucky CQ reader the chance to win their mate a head-to-toe makeover. We had a tough time choosing a 'victim', but eventually we went with Dana’s entry, which told us the plight of her ‘bag lady’ friend Mary by reworking the opening to Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
The prize was a day of pampering across London, starting with a styling session and outfit, watch and jewellery from Guess, followed by makeup at B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, a slap-up lunch and, finally, a hair makeover by Zoe Irwin, Creative Director at Headmasters. I spent the day with Dana and Mary, and (of course) got it all on camera. You won’t believe the transformation… Click the image above to play video.
No it's not a ghost! The Bag Lady's Laura is back at Shiny Towers albeit in video for where she models a fab pair of Solea shoes I got in a charity shop. If you're not interested in shoes we also do a mean impression of a camel, so check that out!
The wait is over for student Kevin Geddes, who won the My-Wardrobe.com Designer Incubator competition, on Tuesday night. The young designer took home the grand prize to have his collection sold exclusively online at My-wardrobe.com. His innovative yet wearable range of denim pieces was enough to convince the judging panel that he was the right candidate. Catwalk Queen was invited inside the final catwalk show to chat to the finalists, witness the winner being announced and speak to the judges, including Louise Redknapp (Clothes Show).
