You may have noticed a little bit of a style rut theme around these parts, well hopefully this is the outfit that will blow away those sartorial cobwebs!
The chunky knits and lace print leggings provide a pleasing mix of textures and the cape trench is so nice I want to photograph it, stick it on my wall and practise my snogging on it! High heels add some glamour and the feather headband provides a little chic quirkyness and much-needed colour. Begone style rut!

Outfit Pick: party dress from Warehouse

Halloween is done and dusted and its left a vacuum which can only be filled by Christmas, which in fashion terms means the party season.
Buy a party frock now and dress it down with chunky knits making it a far more cost effective purchase. Come December you can wear this grey lace dress with cobwebby tights and smoky eyes for a mysterious party look. Blue leggings stops the outfit from looking too matchy and the Mulberry brooch adds a little tough glitz. Full product details after the jump.

Last minute Halloween on the Hight Street 2: The Queen of Hearts

My second last minute Halloween outfit is inspired by our beauty ed Zara, who's off to an Alice in Wonderland themed party this weekend. This is my 'wear it again', high street homage to the Queen of Hearts. Most of the bits can be picked up really easily, and that fab Oasis prom dress will easily see you through the party season...

Last minute Halloween on the High Street: Harlequin / Pierrot

It's Halloween, if you hadn't noticed, and we've been having all kinds of fun putting together makeup looks and creating outfit ideas with a bit of help from Polyvore. My first look for today is based on the Harlequin trend (with a touch of Pierrot), meaning it's super-easy to find on the high street. Most of the outfit below is from Topshop, so it's really easy to put together in a rush if you get a last minute party invitation. See below the cut for product info.

Outfit Pick: Berube jersey skirt

Topshop's leather sequin top looks glam without any trace of tack, so it looks great dressed down with hi-top Reeboks and a geeky digital watch.
Glossy opaques contrast well with the leather and a pleated jersey skirt carries on the simple theme. Top-up the low-key chic with a feathered headband.

Outfit Pick: Balenciaga skirt

Take check to the next level with a play on textures, Balenciaga's skirt nods to the check trend without craning its neck too much and the stripy top mixes up the patterns. A chunky cardigan with a patent belt is cosy and stylish, while the grey peep toe boots are a brave choice that will pay off. Wear a dimpled shiny cuff to add to the textures and complete the look.

Outfit Pick: Cath Kidston's retro mini dress

Cath Kidston is better known for her cutesy homewares and cabbage rose fabrics than she is her clothing, but this season's capsule collection includes some really sweet dresses. This blue mini caught my eye; with only a small floral trim it's less overtly feminine than some of the other pieces and has a real 60s retro feel. I've teamed it with serious statement shoes and a shiny clutch. The jewelled cameo plays on the whole girly Kidston look, but pokes fun by being so kitsch. Rather than putting it on the dress, I'd pin it into a messy updo for the finishing touch to the outfit.
