Ten things we discovered at the Kate Moss for Topshop launch

1. You can't really look like Kate Moss wearing Topshop. The fabrics leave a lot to be desired.
2. Big sunglasses are a must in queues on hot days. Particularly when teamed with little boho smock dresses. Honest.
3. Topshop know how to organise a launch. No queues at the checkouts, plenty of stock and free popcorn and drinks. But we were at the front of the line...
4. Bought £500 worth of stuff? Get a cab home, the Kate Moss bags scream 'mug me'.
5. Kate Moss for Topshop is cut for Kate Moss types. Beware if you're curvy...

Kate Moss for Topshop - The aftermath

You may have noticed a bit of white noise over the last couple of hours. I'll blame the absolute madness in the queue, a short laptop lifespan, a slight memory card issue and a much deserved glass of wine for that! But needless to say we survived. The last couple of hours have been quiet round these parts as we waited for our girls to emerge with their finds. Not only were Kim and Laura some of the first into they store, they were also some of the first at the tills. And boy, did people want to know about what they bought! Once they got out the store, Kim and Laura were subject to a mad gauntlet of pushy press, including various TV, radio and print publications. We were there to get the real scoop from our girls and we can't wait to bring you some in-depth vids and pictures as soon as we've had a couple of hours sleep.

Now for a bit of Moss-shaped gossip...

Kate Moss for Topshop: Hilary Alexander scopes the crowd (and we're going in first!)

hilary.jpg
What were we saying about journos? No sooner have the rest of Team CQ joined Kim and Laura on Oxford Street than we spot the queen of London fashion and my absolute idol, Hilary Alexander, scoping out the queue. Now we know Hilary got a peek at the collection weeks back so I doubt she's going to be doing any shopping today, but the fact she came out to report on the event herself when she very easily could have sent an assistant / intern shows just how dedicated she is to her job. Respect!

Kate Moss for Topshop - goodies, anyone?

goodies.jpgIf we can say one thing about Topshop, it's that they've planned this launch very carefully and they take care of their fans. Not only are the security guards really friendly (meaning they do more than just grunt when you ask questions) but these lovely ladies are going up and down the queue handing out popcorn, drinks and lollies to everyone. Awww, sweet! They didn't do that at Primark...

Kate Moss at Topshop - the queue hots up!

queuegrowing.jpg
School's out...and the queue is growing! Perhaps the slow start really was the calm before the storm, as the queue is growing very quickly. Luckily for us our girls are right in the thick of it, ready to swoop into the store in the first group of shoppers and snag us plenty of clothes for some wicked video content tomorrow morning. There's a 'no photos inside' rule so we sadly won't be able to snap the rails (unless we're very sneaky) but rest assured we've got plenty of other stuff to keep you all Mossed up in the next 24 hours!

Don't forget OSOYOU are there too!

Kate Moss for Topshop - the first girl in the queue is a Catwalk Queen reader!

firstinqueue.jpgNot that we're trying to take credit for the hysteria or anything, but the queue at Topshop is getting pretty busy now in the run-up to those 5.30pm wristbands, and Kim's been chatting to some of the girls in line...only to find the biggest Moss fan of all just happens to be a Catwalk Queen reader!

16-year-old Yasmin from South London is the lucky lady who'll be first in line to take a look at the full collection. She arrived at Oxford Circus at 12.30pm to queue for the 8pm unveiling, and has saved up £200 to spend on the Kate Moss collection. Now that's devotion!

Kate Moss for Topshop Liveblog: The die-hards!

lblog2.jpg
Here's Shiny Kim looking elated at the idea of joining the teensy little queue outside of Topshop at half two. She's the first Shiny to join the masses waiting for the Kate Moss launch, though we've now sent newbie Laura to join her (and take her a bottle of water and a few magazines). Kim's going to be reporting every half hour or so with the latest goss. Apparently most of the so-called 'die hard' fans queuing since lunchtime are actually press and bloggers like us, though the queue is now up to 30 or so and The London Paper are calling the short queue 'the calm before the storm'. Stay tuned for more pictures and live news as it happens here and via our mates at OSOYOU.
