Get The Look: Balmain style on the high street

Christophe Decarnin's modern, gritty reinvention of the classic French label Balmain has fashionistas in raptures, and the high street has been taking notice. Miss Selfridge have bought us a pretty good interpretation of the one-shoulder dress Lily Donaldson strutted down the runway in for Autumn / Winter, swapping silver for black to avoid the copycat claims. I've teamed it with shoes and a bangle that continue the tough, punky look of the collection with studs and rivets, and a silly clutch and quirky earrings to show a sense of humour (you should never take fashion too seriously)...

Get the look: Keira Knightley's purple frills on a budget at ASOS

keira_erdem_asos.jpg

Keira Knightley's purple dress just won't go away. First, we had Elie Saab taking notes from Erdem with new versions of the romantic, frilled frock. Now ASOS.com have got in on the act with their own version, almost identical save for the shoulder strap (which could easily be cut off if you want to be a true Keira clone). It's yours for £55 if you fancy it, and it's also available in petite if you're not as long and leggy as Ms Knightley.

Get Love's look (a few years too late) with Monsoon

lovehewitt_monsoon.jpg

If you've been past a Monsoon shop in the last few days, you've no doubt seen the 'Galloway' dress in the window. It's the star of the current Christmas display, which is no surprise, considering the £225 party frock is something of a stand-out piece. I knew it reminded me of a similar dress from years gone by, and a little research revealed the one I was thinking of was Jennifer Love Hewitt's 2005 Emmy's dress by Dolce & Gabbana, worn in the height of her Audrey Hepburn phase. Of course, both are takes on a very old classic, and the fact the Monsoon version looks as fresh as Love's designer frock, eve years later, shows how timeless this look is. Still, £225 on the high street? Maybe it's time to raid eBay...

Get the Matthew Williamson winter look for less

getthelook_matthewwilliamson.jpg

The king of boho, Matthew Williamson, showed an Autumn / Winter collection that was full of artfully layered dresses, coats, wraps and scarves with thick tights and stunning shoes. One of my favourite looks was an extension of a Spring / Summer look he'd shown, topping a pretty dress with a parka. For winter, the parka was thicker, more voluminous and topped with a fur-trimmed hood, while the dress features a pixellated rose print.

The look is really easy to copy on the high street, albeit with a few colour changes (well, you don't want to look too much like a copycat, do you?). Click through for the product details.

Last minute Halloween on the Hight Street 2: The Queen of Hearts

My second last minute Halloween outfit is inspired by our beauty ed Zara, who's off to an Alice in Wonderland themed party this weekend. This is my 'wear it again', high street homage to the Queen of Hearts. Most of the bits can be picked up really easily, and that fab Oasis prom dress will easily see you through the party season...

Last minute Halloween on the High Street: Harlequin / Pierrot

It's Halloween, if you hadn't noticed, and we've been having all kinds of fun putting together makeup looks and creating outfit ideas with a bit of help from Polyvore. My first look for today is based on the Harlequin trend (with a touch of Pierrot), meaning it's super-easy to find on the high street. Most of the outfit below is from Topshop, so it's really easy to put together in a rush if you get a last minute party invitation. See below the cut for product info.

Get the look: Drew Barrymore's Gucci colourblock dress

gucci_drew_bargains.jpg

Both Drew Barrymore and Rachel McAdams have been spotted wearing Gucci's colourblock dress, which creates fab curves with its cinched waist and belt-effect band. Now the looks has trickled down to the high street, with more affordable offerings for those of us who have rent to pay. On the higher end of the hight street, French Connection's 'Wishing' dress (centre) is yours for £90. Meanwhile, ASOS.com's have got the bargain end covered with their colourblock jersey dress for only £25. They do colourway with a white skirt that's closer to the original, but I think the black is more flattering.
