It was another drama-filled episode of Project Catwalk last night when not one but two contestants, Keko and Jules, were both eliminated. But as Catwalk Queen discovered this hasn't dampened eliminee Jules's bubbly personality one bit. We caught up with her earlier today...
Catwalk Queen: For someone who has just been eliminated you sound extremely happy. Jules: I am, that's because it's my birthday.
CQ: Oh, happy birthday! And on with the questions... What's the whole Project Catwalk experience been like for you? J: Amazing, such a whirlwind. I'd actually never seen the show before appearing in the current series so I think I may have been a bit unprepared in front of the judges. Besides that it has been a really prominent thing that I've done. It was quite intense but it allowed me to analyse myself and understand more of who I am. It's definitely matured me.
Last night at the Canon 'We Speak Image' event, I was lucky enough to grab a few moments with one of my fashion idols - Matthew Williamson - to talk about the collection he created for the campaign, and also about his Fashion Week plans. We shot a short video of our chat, which you can see below...
Sketch was very busy that night and even though we filmed away from the crowds we know the sound isn't great, so see below for a transcript of the interview, as well as more info about Canon's We Speak Image campaign...
Name: Isabelle O’Carroll Location: Brighton Shiny Job: Editor of Brandish, writer for Catwalk Queen and Dollymix. Background: I left London to do an art degree in Brighton which explains my mad Photoshop skillz. Decided after graduation that writing was the way forward, and interned at Plan b, and in New York at Tokion and Parkett thanks to funds from mind-numbing job at large financial corporation. Back in Brighton quit mind-numbing job, returned to my first love of fashion and started freelancing for Shiny Media.
Laura's the latest addition to the in-house Catwalk Queen team, but she's already well and truly one of the girls. We love her. Here's her CQ survey...
Name: Laura “La Rue” Street Location: London Shiny Job: Editor (The Bag Lady) and Writer for Catwalk Queen and Dollymix
Background: I grew up in sunny, sunny Worcestershire and moved to London four years ago and haven’t looked back since! Got a degree in English from Brunel (which isn’t in West London, despite it’s claims) and studied for my post-grad at super hip London College of Fashion. I now live in West London with a pair of booze hounds whom I love dearly!
Last night London College of Fashion played host to an evening with New York based designer Diane Von Furstenberg. She spoke openly about her life, including her two marriages, her two careers, Studio 54 and her love for hiking.
She is currently in London as she was asked to judge Texprint which she really enjoyed and commented, "it was inspiring to see fresh talent that hasn't been corrupted yet!" She was presented with a thank you card from all the participants of Texprint which she gratefully and emotionally accepted.
Von Furstenberg looks amazing, I wasn't aware of how beautiful she really is but she was dressed in a simple black knee-length shift with a colourful print blazer and looked glamorous. She began by talking about her childhood when she attended various schools around Europe. Von Furstenberg was born in Belgium, and commented that it was "the perfect country to escape from."
