Kudos to Koodos* for upping the cool factor with Victim, Wildlifeworks and Harriet's Muse

koodos_victim.jpg

Koodos.com have been known to designer fans for a while now, mostly for bringing us bags from the likes of Chloe and Miu Miu with massive discounts. But until recently, the clothing offerings have been a little thin on the ground, save for the odd Betsey Johnson frock. That seems to have changed, though, as I discovered today they're stocking hard to find, cult On|Off London Fashion Week brands like Wildlifeworks and Victim Fashion Street, which are a far cry from the usual Lyle & Scott argyle jumpers! There are also pieces from Sara Berman, Boudoir by Disaya and Harriet's Muse if you act quickly. Sizes are limited (think of this as an online sample sale) but you can save hundreds on retail prices.

*Yeah, I went there. You love a good pun, right?

The weight battle rages on...

bethditto_nicknightfilm.jpg

"I don't see the point in fatties wearing fashionable clothes because they will only ever look gross and blubbery so why bother....spend your money on gym membership and vegetables instead."

"[you are] proof that one can be stick-thin-media-ideal on the outside and ugly as sin on the inside. Perhaps you should divert some of your gym membership/ vegetable fund into buying a decent personality."

- Two opposing comments from Daily Mail readers on the subject 'Can fat be fashionable. Above: Beth Ditto wearing Alexander McQueen. Your thoughts?!

X Factor's Bad Lashes model for Boohoo.com

badlashes_boohoo.jpg

Good news for Laura White. There is, apparently, life after X Factor. Early eliminees Bad Lashes (who, like Laura, were totally robbed) have managed to keep their profile up by getting heavily involved in the world of mainstream fashion. First off, they performed at a Liverpool fashion show for Cricket boutique, attended by the usual WAGS, Hollyoaks stars and designer handbag fans. Now they're turning their hand to a spot of modelling for online store Boohoo, emblazoned across the homepage in Christmassy LBD's.

Who knows what'll be next. A single, perhaps?!

Topshop bring us more from Louise Goldin...but the prices are going up.

goldin_skaterdress.jpgTopshop have just put up a new crop of designer diffusion pieces from British designer Louise Goldin, and as usual they're edgy, modern knitted pieces that'll definitely get you noticed.

However, I am increasingly surprised at the high prices of the designer pieces at Topshop. In the sale, items from designers like Meadham Kirchoff and Ann-Sofie Back were reduced down to at little as £20, implying that the ranges are not selling when garments are priced well over £100. But that doesn't stop this rather fabulous skater dress being sold for £160. Obviously Goldin's name is a pull, and the great thing about these Topshop collections is that they really do resemble the mainline stuff. But who's got that much cash to splash on the high street?

Asda reveal their £12 little black dresses in time for the party season

asda_lbd.jpg

Hot on the heels of Tesco and their 35 quid little black dresses, comes Asda and their version of the credit-crunch busting party frock. Yes, these ladies and gentlemen are only £12... and aren't they just little beauties?

These classic designs are made from viscose and have fashionable little touches which bring them into 2008, such as the lace cap sleeves and diamante detailing. Sitting at knee-length ensure they will flatter a number of body shapes, and if you are more into an above-knee (or indeed, thigh-high) look, then a tailoring bill on top of £12 doesn't seem too crazy if you are interested in modifying it for that point of difference.

Shop indie via Big Cartel...and lose your life to browsing!

bigcartel.jpg

Fancy losing an entire afternoon to the internetz? That's what I've just done, on discovering that Big Cartel - provider of free online shop software - have a links page that contains every single one of the shops that uses their facilities.

Sadly, Etsy this is not. Big Cartel shops all work independently of each other, so there's no way of searching all the shops to find what you want...but then I think half the fun is clicking random shop logos and waiting to see what goodies appear. How else would I have discovered an Amy Winehouse pendant, a 'Delete' key ring, a huge collection of awful(ly brilliant) patterned leggings and earrings that look like slices of bread?

Visit BigCartel.com/stores to browse all the shops that use the format. I promise you'll (eventually) find something you love!
