River Island up the ante for Spring / Summer 2009

riverisland.jpg

There's a bit of a blogger buzz surrounding River Island at the moment. Queen Michelle started it, raving about the floral tights that are currently flying off the shelves. Then I witnessed Isabelle having a long Twitter conversation with FabSugar UK about the very same tights (£7.82) and some of the other new season styles. River Island themselves are currently running a competition to find the best Spring style, so now is the time to get down to your local store, camp out in the fitting rooms and get creative. I love the bright 80s colours, pretty florals and bold looks they're peddling this season - I've seen what's still to come and it just gets better from here! This is one shop that's definitely raising their game during difficult times!

Mango does Matthew Williamson. Sort of!

If the wait for Matthew Williamson for H&M is just too much, take a look at what I spotted today while browsing the Spring collection at Mango. While the wrap dress might not be identical to the first Williamson for H&M number to be unveiled, the likeness between the prints is uncanny; the same purple, pink, yellow, white and khaki mix, the same graphic print trim, even the same slouchy fabric. If you fancy the Mango dress, it's your for £70 and might just tide you over until the Matthew Williamson for H&M collaboration hits the rails in April.

It might not be the whole collection, but we still thought you'd be as excited as us to see this photo, which shows model Veronika Fasinova cosying up to Matthew Williamson in the first frock to emerge as part of his highly anticipated H&M collaboration, which hits stores on April 23rd.

Keep reading for another snap of the designer with H&M's Margareta van den Bosch and what we hope is another fabulous print from the range...

Get Anna Wintour on your mobile - pronto!

annawintour_mobile_ringtone.jpgFINALLY!

It was only a matter of time before some tech-savvy stylista figured out a way to turn the formidable voice of Anna Wintour into a ringtone.

You can now have the Vogue editor dish out fashion advice on your mobile. She says: "Jeans and T-shirts can be equally fashionable as an Oscar de la Renta ballgown." Hmm... handy.

If that doesn't take your fancy then why not download an André Leon Talley ringtone instead? After all, it has to be better than the Crazy Frog.

Download both ringtones by clicking here - thanks Cityfile peeps!

Kate Moss Topshop for £264 on Yoox. Any ideas?

katemossts_yoox.jpgNow, at any other time of year, I'd be on the phone to try and find out what on earth is going on here. But it's Christmas and anyone with a brain is on a 'long lunch' today. Or 'working from home'. So instead, I will ask you.

This dress, from Kate Moss's Topshop range, is currently selling for £264 (down from £528) on Yoox.com...

WTF?!

When it was in Topshop, this was probably about £50. So why is it now on a designer clearance site for five times the price? Is anyone really going to buy this?!

Nighties with sleeves. They *do* exist!

sleepdress.jpgI had to mention this little gem from the ASOS sale because it's that great impossible-to-find thing; a nightie with sleeves. I much prefer nighties to pajamas (what can I say? My dress obsession extends to bedtime) but at this time of year, I'm chilly in a strappy little slip, and the only options with sleeves are cotton granny offerings or those awful oversize t-shirts with things like 'grumpy but gorgeous' written on them.

This is the perfect compromise. It's cute without being naff, has a warm jersey long-sleeved top, but a skirted bottom. All this, and it's only a fiver in the sale. You'll thank me during our freezing February!

Etsy find: Miss KK's easywear jersey dresses

etsy_misskk.jpg

I continue to be impressed by the amount of great talent that can be found on Etsy, especially where fashion is concerned. I think it's really important to support indie talent, and there are some wonderful up-and-coming designers out there doing interesting things. Get in there and buy a piece before they become too popular! Miss KK takes classic jersey shapes and gives them a touch of extra style with aptly placed frills, tiers and ruffles. Far more exciting than anything you'll find for three times the price on Shopbob or similar, I'm loving the Butterfly dress for $75 and the metallic hand print Angel Wing goddess dress for $75.
