The celebration of Barbie's 50th anniversary continues with a special exhibition by Karl Lagerfeld. Barbie and Ken (played by Chanel model, Baptiste Giabiconi) get a full Lagerfeld treatment, with the pair photographed in everything from bridal to swimsuit to eveningwear. The exhibition will be on display in the windows of Colette in Paris (like you needed another excuse to visit) along with a collection of the very first Barbie dolls. Don't you just love Count Ken Lagerfeld with a Claudia Schiffer version of Barbie (above)?

As if Net a Porter didn't have enough of the market wrapped up with their amazing roster of designers (Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskiens, anyone?) they're now dipping their toes into the vintage market by stocking pieces from One. That's 'One of a Kind' to you and me, a label that takes beautiful old pieces and restores them for modern shoppers. We're talking beaded 20s flapper dresses, tulle and lace 30s dancing dresses and delicate gold cocktails frocks. Unfortunately, not only are they one-offs, but most of them retail at more than £1,000 a pop. So look, but don't touch!
I was quite excited to see a story on Style.com today about the most misunderstood red carpet dresses. From Cameron Diaz in Ungaro to Kirsten Dunst in Rochas (left) it runs down some of the more risky choices that stars have made at awards ceremonies and big premieres in the last few years.
What I wasn't expecting, however, was that the entire story seemed to be a big dig at bloggers who disagreed with the opinions of the all-knowing staff at Style. Loads of online critics were quoted (but never named or linked to) in the piece, which even went as far as to poke fun at a spelling error by an unknown blogger.
What could have been a really great piece just reeks of entitlement. Come on, Style, you're better than that. Next time you're going to source your stories from bloggers (and bitch about them) at least have the courtesy to send some traffic their way into the bargain!

I don't know about you, but today I'm working from the comfort of my sofa while the winter wonderland that is South East London is treated to yet more snow. With public transport in the capital (and most of the South) at a standstill, there are plenty of people stuck at home today. And what else are you going to do with your time but shop online?!
Days like this always see a soar in online sales, and I must admit, wipe-clean wet look leggings suddenly seem like a good idea with all this snow. So let's safely assume sales of those will be going up a bit. Wellies, too, will probably do well today as everyone thinks 'next time I want to be prepared'. Knitwear will fly, as will Ugg boots, dressing gowns, duvets and, um, fan heaters. Wildcard wise, I predict a good few bikinis will sell too, as people plan their escape!
So go on, spill! What have you been buying now your boss isn't watching over your shoulder?
A few years ago, nobody in the fashion industry knew what the hell blogging was. I've lost track of the times I've been treated by blank looks when explaining what I do. "What? That's an actual job?"
But things have changed in the last twelve months. Now everyone is aware of the power of the fashion blog. Not only are they engaging more with fashion bloggers, but loads of our favourite retailers are now getting in on the act themselves.
From Topshop to Karen Millen, My Wardrobe to Urban Outfitters, here's our list of just some of the big UK names that are now blogging...

I'm sorry. I know (though some might say their costumes are frock horror candidates) that this picture of ex-model Jodie Kidd and singer Rachel Stevens on the Strictly Come Danging tour doesn't have much to do with fashion...

...but you're glad I posted it, aren't you?!

We've mentioned StyleShake a good few times on Catwalk Queen, because we love their 'design your own dress' idea, and the many customisable options you have when creating your dream dress. From full-length frocks to short and frilly minis, you can create all manner of exciting creations and get them sent to you - custom made to your measurements - in ten days for as little as around £30.
But it's all well and good to talk about it. We wanted to give it a go! So before Christmas, I designed my perfect party frock, filled out my measurements and bought myself a silk dress...
