Now that ethically made clothes and accessories have gone mainstream, there's so much choice out that dressing from head to foot in eco-friendly and fairtrade gear is no obstacle to style. The only problem can be knowing where to find it...
A new site called Sustain Your Style puts all the most fashion forward sustainable labels together in one place so finding what you need is easy and quick. It's an independent platform, so there's a huge range of ethical labels to choose from, including big names like Edun and Noir, and quite a lot of smaller ones we've yet to discover. Today, you can read an interview with Rani Jones,a new design duo whose geometric garments (pictured) are causing quite a buzz.
A bit of fashion fun never goes amiss, we love the Macho City mailout, and we can't get enough of WWWWD.
Our latest dose of fashion fun comes courtesy of Fashematics! a blog devoted to extrapolating the inspiration behind some of the hottest catwalk looks into easy-to-read equations. Through their eyes a professional motorcyclist and an African mask become Alexander McQueen and Notre Dame plus the scary machine from Metropolis become Jean Paul Gaultier There is more than enough to while away a good afternoon, and it delivers equal amounts of inspiration and LOLs.
My Asho is working as an African my-wardrobe to unite some of the best African designers form around the world. There are so many beautiful print items to choose from, each one guaranteed to become an instant statement favourite in your wardrobe.
Some of the designers who caught our eye are Jewel by Lisa who participated in the recent African Fashion Week, she makes gorgeous contemporary pieces like the ruche jacket, left. YouMeWe is a one-woman powerhouse called Chantel Koning whose voluminous folded skirts (pictured right) will instantly make an outfit. Lalesso produce contemporary dresses using Kenyan fabric and pride themselves on fair wages and benefits for their 22-strong workforce, see after the jump for one a Lalesso dress and Jewel by Lisa top.
We love new finds, online shop Rise caught our attention because it looks like the place to get your summer frock: wedding, party or night out pick a frock from Rise and the odds are you've significantly lowered your chances of bumping into someone with the same outfit, bonus!
Onto the dresses, we love the sweet ditsy zip dress (£28), the colours give it a '90s flavour and it's just dying to be accessorised with a wide, stretchy belt. The dress on the right (£35) combines two big summer trends, the one-shouldered look and painterly prints.
Ever looked at Kate Moss or Agyness Deyn and wished you could give them your own special makeover? Then here is your chance, thanks to London-based artist I Love Mel, who has designed her own paperdoll versions of the famous British models. Each cut-out creation includes several tabbed outfit options, such as stripes and waistcoats for Kate, and trainers and alternative hairdos for Agy. Kits can be ordered from her website starting at around £13.50. There is also a Cheryl Cole paperdoll for those more WAG-inclined customers... Have fun kids!
Australia is fast catching up with, and overtaking the rest of the world stylistically speaking; and coming across the Style Stalker website the CQ team are hankering even more for a trip Down Under!
It's kind of like an ASOS from wa-ay back in the As Seen On Screen days, except their celeb inspiration comes from people like Lou Doillon and Chloe Sevigny... We likey! The bodycon zip skirt takes its cues from Lily Donaldson and the shirt dress is pure Julia Restoin Roitfeld. The holey leggings remind us a little of the summer version of Bebaroque's studded tights, and we'd love to wear them in winter with some bright opaques underneath. See after the jump for full product details.
Natasha Khan, better known as Bat For Lashes, is back with a new album 'Two Suns'. The first single from this release is 'Daniel' which sees her take a more ethereal, '80s route which reminds us all of M83, our one of our favourite artists from last summer.
More importantly, I was was waiting to see which direction she went in stylistically, after her gold-headbanded, spooky, hippy chic look was copied by hip kids all over. Khan is sporting cutoff marl trackpants and a cutoff sweatshirt in a glorious homage to the All American '80s teen. Guess we'll have to wait till Mlle Lashes does the summer festival circuit to see her outlandish stage costumes. Can't wait!
