100 Cheap Party Dresses for Christmas #92 - 94: Bargains at Wallis

wallis_dresses_xmas.jpg

Who'd have thought some of the best party dresses would be found in the sale at Wallis? The shop I usually only head to once a year for smart work dresses has delivered some really good classic styles for Christmas, dressed up in bright colours or cut to flatter curves. These, amazingly, start at only £15 in the sale, meaning I'm tempted to shop even though I've got plenty of frocks to see me well into 2009. First up is the purple pleated satin dress is £25, and a dead ringer for a similar Karen Millen number that's five times the price. Next up is a bargainous £15 pink origami strapless dress (I'd only advise this if you're tall, the length is hard to pull off). Finally the black 'Charlotte' is £25, or £20 in pink.

100 Cheap Party Dresses for Christmas #89 - 91: Dresses for the Shiny ladies!

party_dresses_shiny.jpg

These choices were inspired by my discovery of the lace dress in the middle. It's from Monsoon and called Zsa Zsa (£75.36) which is the nickname we have for our good friend Zara, editor of Kiss and Makeup. I thought it only fair that if she got a dress named after her, that I should attempt to find dresses for the rest of us.

As well as unearthing a 'Kimberley' and an 'Isabelle', I can introduce you to Gemma, on the left, which is £67.53 from Coast and quite a good representation of what I might wear (though obviously it wasn't named after me - I'm not that lucky). On the right is the Kelly (£99 from Brittique). Though I don't think the smock shape does our Kelly justice, the lemon colour does reflect the sunny disposition of our resident Kiwi fashionista.

All together now....awwwww!

100 Cheap Party Dresses for Christmas #87 & 88: Checks and spots

cult_mina.jpg

With a lot of the emphasis on colour this season, prints and textures have taken a bit of a backseat so far in the 100 Cheap Party Dresses list. We've had a few florals and a few dots and brocades, but I think there's room for more, which is why the next two dresses in the rundown are checked and spotted. The gathered, strapless mini-prom dress in greyscale tartan is £34.99 at Cult, while the black and silver spotted dress is just £15 in the Mina sale.

100 Cheap Party Dresses for Christmas #76 & 77: Teal for two

twoteal.jpg

Still not got that perfect Christmas dress? You're cutting it fine as far as pre-Christmas postage goes, but there is still time. As an antidote to all the black, red and blue we've been seeing recently, here are two teal numbers that'll have you looking gorge for less than fifty quid. First, Reko's pleated bib front dress for £45 at Topshop, which you could layer up over a long sleeved top and tights for a bit of warmth. If you're willing to get your shoulders out, the 'Lizzie' strapless dress with a corsage is £20 at Boohoo. Bargain!

One lady lump or two? Claudia Schiffer's breast inspires Karl Lagerfeld

claudiaschifferbreast_karllagerfeld_domperignon.jpgLooking for that last minute Christmas gift for pervy old Uncle Bob? Then Karl Lagerfeld may have just solved that dilemma for you... Got a spare US$3,150 lying around?

Count Karl has been taking further inspiration from his muse, Claudia Schiffer, or her funbags anyway by designing a breast-shaped bowl, based on her bosom size, for Dom Pérignon. The unusual creation is a modern tribute to Queen Marie Antoinette's dining service from 1787. Legend says that Antoinette's own breast was used as a model to create the well-known coupe-shaped champagne glass.

The bowl rests on top of three porcelain replicas of Dom Pérignon, and is being sold along with a bottle of 1995 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque, for the price tag of US$3,150. [via Wine Spectator]
