I've spoken about Little Black Dresses so many times in recent weeks that even I'm bored of them (and at last count, I had about 20 of them in my wardrobe). Still, there's no denying the LBD is the perfect wardrobe staple for this time of year. The right accessories, hair and makeup can dress it up or down for any festive occasion. So, with that in mind the first gallery as part of the 100 Cheap Party Dresses list is devoted to LBDs - strapless, pretty, prom style ones to be exact. And all these babies are between £20 and £45. The next pair of party dresses in my list of 100 are a pair of contrasting looks reduced in the pre-Christmas sales. The drape front purple silk number (£40 at Warehouse) is one of those 'business in the front, party in the back' numbers that has a cutout on the reverse and also some gathering around the bum to flatter curves. It's probably best avoided if you're big busted though, backless boat necks don't lend themselves well to bras!
Meanwhile, the ditsy print prom dress from Oli.co.uk has a bit of a Luella feel to it, and is a very affordable £12. But here's the rub...it's only £12 in sizes 8 and 10. If you're a 6, 12 or 14 you'll still be paying the full £40. Chuh!
Prom-style polka dots, buttercup yellow brocade effect and whimsical blue swirls...here are three Christmas party frocks all for less than £20 each. Yes, I said less than twenty squids! The polka dot mini prom dress from ASOS is in the clearance at only a tenner in red and white or blue and white, and even comes with detachable straps. The yellow fitted dress with a belt is from Love Label and is £18 in the sale. Finally, the blue one-shoulder number with satin ribbon trim is yours for £15 at Boohoo.com. You asked for it, you're going to get it! When we did a poll to find out what Christmas content you wanted to see on the site, party dresses were top priority. And you want them cheap, which is no surprise considering the current financial climate.
So, between now and Christmas eve, I've got the, erm, difficult job of finding 100 cheap party dresses for Catwalk Queen readers. They'll definitely all be under £100, and I'm going to try my best to keep the majority at £50 or less so you'll still be able to buy Christmas presents once you're sorted for the parties.
