Truth be told I'm not the biggest fan of Christmas carols. Of course I'm no Scrooge, I like the odd bit of "Jingle Bells" and you may even catch me humming along to "Winter Wonderland," but on the whole they're not my favourite. I blame all those earlier years working in retail - oh how they torture you with carols on repeat. Having said that, I am rather partial to Bon Jovi's 1992 rendition of "Please Come Home for Christmas". Strictly speaking it isn't a carol, but then it does star the yummy man himself rolling around the Christmas tree with Cindy Crawford. Need something to get you in the festive mood? This will do it!
Can you believe that Christmas is next week? Eek! Don't panic - before you blow a blood vessel (like moi) there is still time to pick up some last minute gifts. Being a fashion blog, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to mention a few handy gift ideas for the style-obsessed amongst us.
Now that December is in full swing, you should already have your Christmas party frock well and truly figured out. Erm... right. However, if you're like me and have left the dress-buying-business, along with the gift-buying-business, to the last minute then never fear. Here are five great party frocks that you can find on the high street and won't break the bank at the same time. So, take a squiz and see what you fancy. More after the jump...
Still hunting for the perfect party dress to wear this festive season? Then you may want to take a glance at Roland Mouret's limited edition dress collection for Net-a-porter.com. Aptly named, the 'Rainbow Project', the collection features an array of party frocks in a burst of different colours. Subtle glamour is the key - and not a little black dress in sight! But be warned, prices aren't cheap. Ranging from £850 and £1700, what else can you expect when two of the pieces (a cream and a navy dress) starred in Mouret's spring/summer 2010 show in Paris.
Aren't I in a festive mood today? And why wouldn't I be with so much to look forward to this Christmas.
For instance, Luella Bartley is jumping the holiday queue early by launching her ultimate Christmas list of goodies and window display today at Liberty of London. The British designer has teamed up with the department store to open her holiday grotto choc-full of Christmassy treats and trinkets.
So pop by Liberty later today for a candy cane or two, and a spot of holiday shopping with Luella. Arrive at 6.30pm and you'll have a chance to meet the lady herself or at least get your photo with old Saint Nick.
As we mentioned last week, two of the funniest ladies in television history have reunited for the annual star-studded Marks & Spencer Christmas campaign. And they're joined by such illustrious company as Stephen Fry and erm... Wallace & Gromit (?!) It's definitely a step up from last year's cheesy Take That Christmas commercial. In fact, it will inspire even the biggest Scrooge to get into the holiday spirit. So sit back and enjoy the latest campaign offering - without a Barlow in sight.
Yes, yes, yes! Why didn't we think of this earlier? Marks & Spencer plus Ab Fab = super funny ads for the holiday season! Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders have signed on to be the new faces of M&S's Christmas '09 campaign. But that's not all! The funny ladies also join John Sergeant, Stephen Fry and Mark's favourite, Twiggy, in the new ads which hit back at the issue of ageism in British TV.
