A quick chat with Olivia Palermo at QVC's New York Fashion Week Party

QVC Party Olivia Palermo 2.jpg

Olivia Palermo was one of many US TV stars to stop by the QVC/Fashion for Haiti booth at the television and online retailer's New York Fashion Week party this weekend. The socialite and star of "The City" posed with the CFDA's "To Haiti With Love" T-shirt available for $25 in the US.

"I have Rachel Roy tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to," she said of her fashion week plans. "She's a very dear friend of mine."

As for how she'll be incorporating what she's seeing into her own fall wardrobe, she said "I really am loving the colors we're seeing on the runways this year, I really like the grays, the greens [I think I'll be wearing them]."

Unfortunately it was too loud in the party to hold much of a conversation!

2010 Brit Awards: Cheryl Cole and Lily Allen face-off on stage

2010 Brit Awards - Cheryl Cole and Lily Allen.jpg

Avoiding the red carpet was Cheryl Cole (shame!) whose marriage to Ashley has hit headlines recently for all the wrong reasons. Nevertheless, the X Factor judge put on a brave face and took to the stage for a performance of her rather appropriately-named single, Fight For This Love. Starting off in a white trench, aviator sunglasses and very little else, Cheryl switched outfits half-way through to an all-in-one black sparkly number.

Another highlight of the night was a live performance by Lily Allen, who also took home her first-ever Brit Award for Best Female Solo Artist. Arriving on stage via a giant silver rocket, Lily wowed in a racy black corset, fishnets and heels. For a full list of the night's winners, click on....

2010 Brit Awards Gallery: Ladies get their legs out

Another big trend on the Brit Awards red carpet last night was legs. Everywhere you turned there they were be it pale, tanned or covered in tights. Turning heads in her futuristic ensemble was Leona Lewis. The X Factor starlet took a risk in a silver asymmetrical minidress, which protruded at the shoulder, designed by London favourite William Tempest. The Sugababes formed a trio of legs in a series contrasting black-and-white short frocks. While Geri Halliwell, who represented Spice Girls in the winners pool, was like a bright white beacon in a sea of mostly black. [Images: Rex Features]

2010 Brit Awards Gallery: Gothic and dark trends

Without a doubt one of the biggest trends on the red carpet at last night's Brit Awards was of the dark variety. Leading the charge was Lily Allen, who dared to be different in a gothic-inspired Chanel gown, featuring an Oriental-style high-neck and waistband brooch detail. While Kylie Minogue, who missed out on a gong, got a little bit gypsy in a black Dolce & Gabbana long sheer dress which didn't really rock our world - sorry Kyles!

Other notable gothic appearances included Pixie Lott in a mini lacy frock designed by Kate Halfpenny, TV presenter Laura Whitmore's short bubble hem number and Alicia Keys who injected a bit of sparkle into the evening in a sharp-shouldered Balmain dress. [Images: Rex Features]

2010 Brit Awards: Lady Gaga pays tribute to Alexander McQueen

britawards2010_ladygaga.jpg

As was expected at last night's Brit Awards, Lady Gaga paid the ultimate tribute to her friend, Alexander McQueen, by dedicating her performance to the late designer. Considered McQueen's unofficial muse, the outlandish songstress made quite an impression on the red carpet donning a white layered-cake style gown, glittery mask and Marie Antoinette-inspired bouffant wig. In total, Gaga took home three awards.

"It's been tough, but I hope you enjoy it," she said of her performance, which was toned down because her initial plans were deemed too morbid. While, it was also reported that she turned her dressing room into a shrine for McQueen. See a video of her performance after the jump...

Alexa Chung previews Madewell line at New York Fashion Week

alexachung_madewell_nyfwdebut.jpg

If you can look beyond the fact that "our" Alexa Chung has collaborated with an American brand and not a British one, then you may just be in for a treat. The model-turned-TV-presenter unveiled her debut range for J.Crew's Madewell line at New York Fashion Week yesterday. Pals Pixie Geldof and Poppy Delevigne lent a hand by modelling the collection which featured 1960s-inspired shorts and tea dresses.

"[Madewell] vision is kind of the same as mine. They like laid back styles, they like kind of relaxed clothes - classic, timeless things. So when they asked to collaborate, it was a perfect fit," she said. As for a long time partnership with Madewell, Alexa added: "We haven't really discussed another [collection] yet but it would be amazing to do."

New York Fashion Week: Models pause for McQueen at Fashion for Relief

Daphne Guinness, Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell walk the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York

There was a sombre moment of remembrance during Friday night's Fashion for Relief show. Paying tribute to her friend Alexander McQueen, Naomi Campbell dedicated the finale of her charity show to his recent passing. Joined by Helena Christensen, Karen Elson, Daphne Guinness and other famous models, Campbell paused to commemorate McQueen's work by wearing his designs (above). Afterwards, she walked backstage holding hands with Angela Lindvall with tears in her eyes.
