2009 CFDA Awards: And the winners are...

kirstendunst_rodarte_cfda2009_katelauramulleavy.jpg"Drum roll please!"

Last night's CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards in New York attracted the cream of the crop from the US design pond, but only a few could take home a gong.

Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy were the toast of the evening, winning the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. They brought along a very happy Kirsten Dunst as their date.

Proenza Schouler were named Accessory Designer of the Year. While a very confident Alexander Wang was awarded the Swarovski Award for Womenswear.

For the first time the Popular Award was given to Ralph Lauren. Special honours included Anna Sui for the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and Marc Jacobs for the International Award. Check out a full list of the winners after the jump...

Fashion Police: Bruno commits faux pas by wearing same outfit twice!

bruno_fashionfauxpa.jpg

By now most of you would have heard or seen Bruno (a.k.a. Sasha Baron Cohen) and the hilarous stunt he pulled on Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards - if you haven't then click here. Well, now it seems that Bruno has committed the worst possible fashion crime of all - wearing the same outfit twice *gasp* The flamboyant Austrian style reporter was dressed to kill in a leopard print T-shirt, cap and underwear ensemble (is that Roberto Cavalli I spy?) which he has now worn to both the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards and the MTV Movie Awards. Tut-tut! Although perhaps the real faux pas is matching your T-shirt with your pants in the first place. Ahh... you gotta love him.

CQ Gallery: The 2009 BAFTA Television Awards, part two

Part two of our BAFTA's style rundown, it was a star-studded event at this year's British Academy with awards going to David Attenborough and comedy duo Jennifer Saunders & Dawn French.

Onto the fashion, we loved Alexa's look for the BAFTAs, and we've got some more stunning style courtesy of Liz McLarnon, Davina McCall and more. We particularly love Skin's Hannah Murray, her silver tap shoes are the cutest thing we've seen on the red carpet!

Sienna Miller supports a fellow brit designer by wearing Jonathan Saunders

Sienna Miller was out in Vegas last night for the ShoWest Awards Gala, and she chose to wear a British designer, Jonathan Saunders, for the occasion. She picked up an award for Best Supporting Actress (apparently, when she's not wearing amazing clothes at parties, she acts) for Edge of Love wearing a zig-zag mini with architectural shoulder detail. She looks fab, and so different from the other attendees in their strapless satin dresses and little slips!

Oscar dress replicas already on sale. When do these people sleep?

oscar_dress_copies.jpg

No sooner have we got over the hangover from our Ryan Seacrest drinking game (a drink every time he doesn't ask about the dress) than this happens. Thanks to The Fashion Police for alerting us to the fact that eDressMe, frequent purveyors of celebrity rip-off dresses, have already started flogging Oscars-inspired frocks. It's only Thursday!

You too can look like Kate Winslet, Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie or Amy Adams in a 'budget' alternative (I say budget, but they're $300+ each). Or if you'd prefer, there are also plenty of Golden Globe style dresses too, including JLo, Angelina or Eva Longoria.

If you want.

CQ Gallery: 2009 NME Awards red carpet

After a jam-packed week of London Fashion Week shows, parties and other various events, I have to hand it to some of these ladies - they have oodles of energy, that's for sure. Peaches Geldof, Alexa Chung, Nicola Roberts and Alice Dellal, were just a few of the starlets to hit the red carpet last night for the NME Awards. Catching our eye was Roberts' black Preen dress (also recently worn by Leighton Meester), Sarah Harding's horizontal striped number, and Chung's minidress, hot off the catwalk from PPQ's A/W 09 show - talk about quick! Check out all the fashion via the gallery below.

Academy Awards 2009: How good were Gemma's Oscar dress predictions?

predictions_rerun.jpg

Being a massive Oscars fashion fan, every year before the Academy Awards I predict what I think we'll see on the red carpet. Inevitably, I get a lot wrong, but it's still fun to see who's being predictable and who has a stylist that thinks outside of the box (not Angelina, that's for sure).

This year, I didn't do too badly, particularly where colour was concerned, and while none of my specific dress predictions were spot-on, I was almost there on plenty of the details and designers. Take a look to see how well I did below the cut, and have a look at my original predictions gallery by clicking here.
