Pringle of Scotland is launching a design competition in conjunction with the British Fashion Council (BFC).
Those who may apply are students from the BFC Colleges Council design courses. The competition requires them to design five or six outfits for either a womenswear or menswear capsule collection.
They will then show their creations to an advisory board of UK and international press and buyers, and BFC's Caroline Rush.
The overall winner will score a six-month, full-time position working under Pringle creative director Clare Waight Keller, plus £1,000 cold hard cash. Not bad huh?
You must get your entry in before 11th December 2009.
Fearne Cotton has teamed with buddy Holly Willoughby for a collection on new shopping site Very. Featuring accessible pieces that every high street lover will covet we love the leopard print coat and the striped dress, below.
Very hosts Peaches Geldof for PPQ, Jasmine Guinness and has Louise Roe on board to dispense fashion advice. Fearne said: "I have really enjoyed the entire process from start to finish and working with Holly and the other designers has just been fantastic. I like to be adventurous in my style choice and I really think a lot of my personality is reflected in the range."
Hope you're all off to have a fun weekend in the sun this bank holiday, but if you've got nothing planned you could do worse than ape these wonderful kids. We just love their sequinned costumes which pokes a fun at the much-aped MGMT look. Whether you're partying in the pub, pinic-ing in the park or just lounging around make sure it sparkles!
In 2001 I bought a domain for my personal blog. I chose the name Catwalk Queen, because I loved fashion and was planning to study it further after I left school. If you'd have told me back then that eight years later my site would have evolved into a huge fashion resource viewed by nearly half a million people each month, I would have laughed in your face.
But somehow it happened, thanks to some hard work, a little luck, a fantastic team and great support from our readers and the folks at Shiny Media.
This site has been my life for the past eight years, but now it's time to fly the nest. Next week I'll be moving on to new projects, and Catwalk Queen will be left in the very capable hands of Kim and Isabelle.
If you're a regular to the site, you've probably noticed a few technical issues at Catwalk Queen over the last few days.
We're really sorry for the downtime on Friday, the issues with the feeds and the fact the comments are not working. We've had to temporarily disable them while we fix the problems with our overloaded server. We want to make sure the site runs properly in the future, so we're doing some big fixes behind the scenes.
Hopefully things will be sorted for good very soon. We'll still be posting just as many stories and hopefully keeping you informed and entertained, but we're really sorry you won't be able to join in the conversation on the site. You can always get in touch via Twitter or Facebook though!
We interrupt usual proceedings to bring you some exciting news from the people we fight with over the office playlist our best friends at Shiny Media's tech sites, lead by the lovely folks at Shiny Shiny and Tech Digest.
Shiny Media has joined forced with The Gadget Show Live as the sole online partner, to provide expert advice and interactive, educational sessions within the 'How To Theatre' at the event at the NEC.
That means a quiet office full of fashionistas as the tech team decamp to Birmingham over the weekend of 17th to 19th April 2009 to talk to the public about everything from digital photography to synching your music.
For more information on the show, and to buy tickets, visit The Gadget Show Live's website.
If you can't stop talking about fashion (and beauty, and accessories...and all kinds of other random stuff), you'll be glad to know that, after a slight hiatus, our Fashion Forums are back!
The Shiny Fashion forums bring together readers of all the women's blogs on the Shiny Media network - including CQ, Shoewawa, The Bag Lady and Bridalwave - and gives them somewhere to talk candidly about the things they love. Most of the moderation is done by a very dedicated (and much-loved) team of forum devotees, rather than our staff, which gives them a much more independent feel, and means we get to visit along with the rest of you and join in the conversations, rather than leading them.
If you fancy joining in the chat, sign up for free at www.shinyfashionforums.com. We'd love to meet you properly!
