Amongst a sea of dapper men in well cut suits, there were sequins, midriffs and high hemlines galore at The Royal Opera House in London last night as the ladies set out to impress for the GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2013.

Pop star Jessie J matched GQ's Woman Of The Year Emma Watson in the crop top stakes, opting for a black bandeau to match her dramatic Persy Yaniv fishtail skirt whilst the stunning Harry Potter star chose an androgynous Balenciaga ensemble consisting of tailored black trousers and a white sculptured top. Monochrome was a favourable trend on the red carpet, with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wowing a difficult-to-pull-off white PVC Versace dress with metallic straps and singer Ellie Goulding sporting not one but two experimental Julien Macdonald looks over the course of the evening.

In my opinion there were several contenders for best dressed; Rita Ora looked incredible in a black and yellow beaded Etro gown featuring cut out detail at the waist, topped off with a catwalk inspired quiff and some super cool eye liner which she shared with her fans on Instagram on her way to the event. Star Trek's Alice Eve also grabbed our attention in a colourful two tone Richard Nicoll dress with a shimmering croc effect across the front and crepe panel at the back.

Other notable celebs included British model Jourdan Dunn (who turned heads in a very low cut embellished gown by Hugo Boss), fashion favourite Alexa Chung (who chose a silvery Carven number) and Daisy Lowe, who suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in a thigh high/navel low Saint Laurent maxi dress. If she was trying to get the attention of ex boyfriend Matt Smith, we're pretty sure she did the trick...
