The Emmys are underway but we're rather unconcerned with the broadcast. Who cares who wins a statuette when we're busy judging attendees on the basis of their sartorial talents. (Or those of their stylist.)

We may be a bit partial to the ladies of Mad Men, but they really turned it out for tonight's event. Not least of all - Kiernan Shipka - in perhaps our favorite look of the bunch. The young Sally Draper has really been coming into her own fashion sense as of late, and it's thrilling to see the progression. January Jones thankfully kept things simple for this red carpet and in our opinion it panned out better than when she goes avant garde. Jessica Paré's dress may be a bit of a miss - is there something droopy about the bust? And we're loving Elizabeth Moss' hair, but are afraid the straight line of her strapless dress was a bit too harsh and made her shoulders look wide - and she's a tiny person. Also, is there a hint of tan line there? We hate when designers try to tame Christina Hendrick's curves, so we're glad Christian Siriano gave her a classy yet va-va-voom gown.

On to the rest of the pack, Michelle Dockery was clearly Downton's shining star on the red carpet in Prada. Where were the other ladies? Julie Bowen may have had our favorite dress of the night, a stunning Zac Posen. And it's impossible to ignore Heidi Klum's Atelier Versace. The exposed corsetry of Kaley Cuoco's stunning burgundy Vera Wang was also exquisite.
