David Koma's signature modern minimalism strikes again at LFW S/S14
Fashion Week day two was the turn of celebrity adored, curly-locked David Koma to show off his best talents at the BFC Show Space in the ever drizzly Somerset House Courtyard today. Whilst fashion honeys attempted to skip the line outside and various editors and buyers nestled on down in front row there was one thing we were all sure of, that the failsafe, outstanding David Koma would not disappoint.
We were right, of course. Koma didn't over complicate things either, bringing us all a collection worthy of many a stage show, red carpet or perhaps when us non-famous mere mortals get surprised with a tax rebate.
It's fair to say we'll be wearing monochrome next season as like many others in this year's schedule Koma toyed with ice white and gothic black however not allowing colour to not distract from the message he was trying to put across - that message being 'that's right, here's another collection you're gonna want every dress from ladies'. Graphic A-line leather framed dresses and sharp asymmetric collared jackets hit the runway, giving the sense that the David Koma lady was certainly both strong and elegant.
Mixing laser cut leathers, perfectly structured fabrics and hints of sheer Koma dazed as minimalist, figure-hugged models showed off their feminine, petite frames. One dress in particular that emphasised curves through strategically placed blacks and whites was very reminiscent of Stella McCartney's illusion dress.
As the collection fiercely moved on so did the colour palette, initially adding soft dusty pinks and subtle, sky blues and then developing into delicious light navy. Koma definetly focused on what he was good at; incredibly iconic yet simple dresses but also gave us trouser-wearing ladies a few options too, also beautifully fitted.
There is no doubt about it; Beyonce and Kylie will be rocking these little beauties in no time.
