Gallery: fashion finds for fall's androgynous trend
When we think androgynous fashion, we think "borrowed from the boys" and "menswear-inspired" and a variety of other oft-recycled style-speak cliches. But the real allure of androgyny is when a look hits the right combination of masculine and feminine.
A true blurring of the lines of gender presentation can be an inspiring way to mix up your wardrobe, and there's plenty of chic ladies to get inspired by. Coco Rocha's new short hair seems to have unleashed her masculine energy. In the before and after photos her entire demeanor changed and she held herself a little differently. We think it's unleashed her inner tough chick - did you see her at the VMA's?
Rocha's inspiration was Tilda Swinton, another lady who gets androgyny bang on. Other girls who get the gal/guy appeal include fashion editor Kate Lanphear, Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung and Casey Legler. Since this is about combining mens' AND womens' fashion, give a glance to Andrej Pejic and David Bowie as well. Or, you know, any hipster in an emo band.
Here, we collect some of our favorite androgynous finds for fall, as well as a few outfit inspirations.
