First Look: Marchesa's new contemporary line
The fall lookbook for Marchesa's new, lower-priced contemporary line dropped today and we've got a few choice looks to show you. Last fashion week Marchesa was among several designers, including Zac Posen and Vena Cava, that announced diffusion lines and Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are one of the first out of the gate.
"Something Keren and I had always wanted to do was more of a loungewear deal -- the Marchesa in her palazzo," Chapman said of the line called Marchesa Voyage in WWD.
The aesthetic is said to be global and has a bit of an Aladdin, Gypsy vibe. You definitely get the feeling this is the type of thing Chapman lounges around in. The word aspirational comes to mind. I personally have very little need for flowy silk and lace animal print palazzo pants or glorified dressing gowns cut down to my navel, but maybe that's just me. If that is totally your bag, then be sure to check out the line at Bloomingdales and Saks! Prince points are said to be between $100 and $400.
No surprise that this is Marchesa's first move towards a long term goal of becoming a lifestyle brand.
