The annual BET Awards are always an interesting night when it comes to style, with a bit of an 'anything goes' dress code that means you'll see glamorous gowns on the red carpet next to tiny little dresses, cutout bodysuits and all manner of unusual choices. Stars from across the showbiz spectrum attend the awards, which celebrate African Americans and other minorities across everything from singing to sport.

This time it was the actresses who stood out in the fashion stakes, be it Gabrielle Union in a gorgeous Zac Posen cocktail dress, or Naya Rivera in a slouchy Pucci mini (or was it a sweater?). Double-threat actress / singer Kat Graham worked a vintage Versace look, while Paula Patton (on the arm of hubby Robin Thicke) went for a romantic Max Azria number.

White was the colour of the night, with almost half the female attendees opting for the shade - Michelle Williams chose a dramatic pelum dress by an up and coming designer, while Janelle Monae stuck to her androgynous signature style in a sharp Dolce & Gabbana suit. Also looking chic was Nicki Minaj in black lace - she may have skipped the red carpet, but the dress was worth the wait. Check out our gallery for some of the best looks from the night.
