Did Keira Knightley wear a recycled Rodarte dress to her wedding?
Now this is something you don't see every day. A celebrity wedding in which the bride wears a... wait for it... recycled non-bridal dress! But that is precisely what Keira Knightley did, at least that's what it looks like. The British actress wed her rocker boyfriend James Righton in an intimate ceremony in the south of France on Saturday, wearing what appears to be frock she has donned before.
Fashion insiders have pointed out that her short mushroom-coloured tulle prom dress, featuring a ruched bodice, looks eerily similar to the Rodarte number she wore to a pre-BAFTAs party in 2008 (above, left). Adding her own touch to the outfit, the actress threw on a cream-coloured Chanel jacket, perhaps an ode to her long association with the fashion house. Continuing the low-key theme, she sported bare legs, a pair of ballet pumps, and a delicate daisy chain in her hair.
The couple tied the knot in front of just 11 guests at the town hall in Mazan near Marseilles. After the newlyweds drove off in a battered old Renault (!) their guests headed to her parents £3 million estate owned by Keira's family, located about three miles outside the medieval Provence town. Following her nuptials, the actress took to Tumblr to send a message to her fans:
"My apologies for my somewhat long absence. As you all well know, I am now married. What a relief it is! I have been completely overwhelmed, I appreciate all of the lovely fan wishes on congratulating me. James and I have gotten married in France, it was a truly brilliant ceremony! Should I change my username for Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr? Keep you guys posted! xx"
Now that's what you call a no-frills wedding!
