Naomi Watts in Armani Prive at the 2013 Oscars
Apparently Naomi Watts, her stylist and the team at Armani Prive have been working on this dress since the Golden Globes, constantly collaborating to ensure the silver one-shoulder cap-sleeve gown was perfect for the big night.
It's safe to say the hard work has paid off - she looks incredible and the fit is insane. As Kelly Osbourne pointed out during the requisite E! critique, a dress with so much detail and strapping around the top half could easily dig in and look cheap if it isn't made to fit. But that's the joy of being a Best Actress nominee and having easy access to couture - a perfect fit is guaranteed (and it looks like there's a lot of built-in corsetry going on beneath the liquid metal of this gown.
One of our wishes for the red carpet this year was that some of the stars would take risks and ditch the boring and oft-seen silhouettes (strapless, fishtail etc) for something more unusual and contemporary. With this futuristic number Naomi had definitely done that and though we know some fans of classic hollywood glamour will find it a bit much, we love it. We can't wait to see what her BFF Nicole Kidman comes up with...
