McQueen ladies at the Oscars: Amanda and Salma
We love it when a British designer makes it onto the Academy Awards red carpet, and not one but two gorgeous attendees of the 2013 Oscars turned to Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen for their gowns, with very different (but equally gorgeous) results.
First up was Amanda Seyfried (who will be performing during the show alongside the cast of Les Miserables). She chose a romantic lilac organza gown with embroidered dragonflies down the whole length of the skirt. The halter neck makes the most of her toned shoulders and arms, and it's a nice change from all the strapless we keep seeing. Apparently Amanda knew this was the dress the moment she saw it and unlike a certain co-star, she didn't feel the need to change her mind last minute.
At the other end of the scale was Salma Hayek-Pinault, who looked to the darker side of McQueen in a midnight blue column dress with a jewelled gold collar, and a matching skull box clutch. It's a bit of a change for Salma, who usually likes to show off a bit of cleavage (wouldn't you, with breasts like that) but this high-necked, jewelled McQueen collar has already had one successful awards show outings this year (on Kate Hudson at the Golden Globes) so we're glad she took a risk.
But you know what's coming next - we want to know which McQueen look you love the most. Romantic and flowing on Amanda, or gothic glam on Salma? Cast your vote in the poll below...
