Anne Hathaway does Audrey Hepburn in Prada at the Oscars
We can't help but feel a little disappointed by this dress choice by Best Supporting Actress Nominee Anne Hathaway. She looks stunning, no doubt, but it isn't all that different style-wise to her red carpet choices at both the Golden Globes (where she wore Chanel) and her appearance at the Les Miserables London premiere in Givenchy.
The Prada dress is made from a heavy satin fabric in a pearl shade, has a body skimming column shape, darts at the bust, and a high neckline with crossover straps and a cutout back detail.
Anne said, "I didn't know what I was wearing until about three hours ago" but continued that "this dress spoke to me." Styled with a Tiffany necklace, the classic dress is beautiful and suits Anne's slender frame and out-growing crop beautifully, and there is something admirably Audrey Hepburn about this look (but maybe that's the jewels?).
The question remains - could she have done better? Rumour has it that Anne was supposed to wear Maison Valentino but made a last minute switch to the Prada number above. Perhaps she should have stuck with her gut and gone with her first choice?
