We're still almost six months away from the long, long, long-awaited release of The Great Gatsby, the latest film adaptation from Baz Lurhmann, but that doesn't stop the slow trickle of teasers from whetting our appetite. Today Miuccia Prada released sketches of some of the 40-odd Miu Miu and Prada designs that will feature in the film.

This is not the first time the designer has worked with Luhrmann and his wife and long-term collaborator, production and costume designer Catherine Martin. The efforlessly stylish 1996 film Romeo + Juliet also benefited from the Prada touch, when Leonardo DiCaprio wore a Prada suit for the wedding scene.

For The Great Gatsby, Prada is in her element, creating beautiful 1920s inspired adaptations of previous Prada and Miu Miu designs, including the gold embellished party dress worn by Carey Mulligan (as Daisy Buchanan) and seen in the trailer (below).

Luhrmann is known for his highly stylised takes on period drama (remember Moulin Rouge?) and it looks like The Great Gatsby, with it's rock and hip-hop soundtrack and super-stylish wardrobe, will be a very intriguing take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's much-loved novel.
