Peter Som cancels New York Fashion Week show
Oh dear, another designer has pulled out of New York Fashion Week. Peter Som has cancelled his forthcoming catwalk show to present his autumn 2013 collection. The designer had planned to show on February 8 at 10am at Milk Studios.
"Peter decided this was the best decision for this season. There will be a AW13 collection but the format of how it will be presented has not yet been confirmed," said a spokeswoman for Som.
Som is the latest designer to back out of presenting a full-scale fashion show in favour of a different format. Chris Benz also recently announced that he would be taking a season off from showing his latest collection in order to concentrate on restructuring his business.
"We have received great feedback from the marketplace after just one season," said Benz. "I want ample time to implement all that we have learned."
Meanwhile, Katie Holmes is also rumoured to be skipping New York Fashion Week after the provisional schedule was released without a spot allocated for her Holmes & Yang label. Some are speculating that the actress is just too busy with her Broadway show, Dead Accounts, to focus on a catwalk show. While others claim it could be due to the mixed reviews she received last season when she presented her Spring 2013 collection last September.
Let's hope no-one else decides to skip NYFW. They seem to be dropping like flies at the moment!
