Kate Middleton wears French Connection for Royal portrait
This week the Royal family revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child in July. Ladbrokes is all ready accepting bets on precisely what date the child is born, what sex it will be and the name. Leading the betting so far are Diana and Elizabeth which are 8/1 odds in favour if it is a girl. However if it is a boy, then George is the name that the punters are putting most of their money on.
The news was topped off by the unveiling of a new Royal portrait of Kate Middleton. For her first formal portrait, Kate wore a navy blue French Connection Sub Silky tie top. Originally released in four colours and featuring a pussy-bow neck tie, there is only the white version still available on the company's UK site. However it is on sale, and is currently reduced from £129.95 to just £31.66 - a bit of a bargain if you're planning on snapping it up!
So far there have been mixed reviews of the portrait and Kate's choice of top. While some are calling it plain and boring (I tend to agree), others believe it to be elegant. Either way it is great to see her wearing a piece from a high street retailer, rather than a designer, for the moment that she was immortalised in oil paint.
