Anne Hathway and Michelle Dockery both opted for classic black at the SAG Awards, but neither of them could be accused of playing it safe. Both opted for a mix of sheer and opaque sections, but the results were very, very different.

First up was SAG award winner Anne, who teamed her pixie cut with a big smile and an organza confection from Giambattista Valli, another look taken straight off the Spring / Summer 2013 couture catwalks of last week. The length looks great on her and gives a feeling of fun that is often lacking in Anne's wardrobe choices, but we're a bit worried that this dress reminds us too much of the many double layered 'mullet' dresses currently residing on sale racks following the Christmas party season. This mix of bejewelled mini dress with full skirt over the top is a tricky style...but this is Anne Hathaway in couture. We think she pulls it off, but it's a very close call.

Meanwhile, the sheer sections came in a very different way for Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, who had the whole of twitter screaming "side boob!" as she took to the red carpet in a Chado Ralph Rucci gown, with her hair pinned up in an even shorter mock bob than her Golden Globes 'do. That is a lot of side-on action, but who can blame her when she spends most of her time on her screens trussed up in vintage clothing that doesn't reveal much at all?

We like this look on Michelle, but it doesn't really wow us. After white at the Globes and black at the SAG Awards, we're dying to see Michelle wear some colour. Can we cross our fingers for the BAFTAs, perhaps?
