We were expecting big things from Anne Hathaway during the awards season, and if her Golden Globes look is anything to go by, she'll be pitch perfect throughout. She hit the red carpet looking beautiful in a chic, simple Chanel Couture corset and skirt. Look closely, and you see the real detail that identifies this as couture; it's a flowing, textured, sequin encrusted sheath that moves beautifully. It reminds us slightly of the similar Armani Prive look Anne wore to the Oscars in 2010.

Where Anne (and, by proxy, her stylist) excels is in knowing when to stop. There are no huge jewels, no mad hair, and no big accessories. Delicate diamond bracelets, tiny earring and very subtle makeup (big fluttery eyelashes, soft pink lips) mean that the dress does the talking, and Anne's natural beauty shines through.

Other stars might not be able to pull off such a simple shape and uncluttered look, but it's become Anne's trademark and we love it. We hope she keeps that short hair for a while too. It may have been chopped off for a film role, but it really works for her.
