The second trailer for Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby has been released. Although still quite over-the-top, this preview of the upcoming film seems to reveal a lot more intensity and drama than the first trailer. We know that being a Luhrmann flick this latest adaptation of the classic novel will be a sweeping, decadent visual feast. But what I also want to see is a bit more meat of the storyline. In this clip, we are given a little further look at the mystery surrounding the character of Jay Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story here is a short synopsis from IMDB: "Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby's circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy. "

The film also stars Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan who is part of Gatsby's high-society circle and with whom he has a love affair with. Other stars cast in the film include Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke.

Yes, I am hanging for the lavish 1920s costumes but I am also curious to see whether Luhrmann's interpretation lives up to all the hype. The Great Gatsby will hit cinemas in the UK on 17th May and in the US on 10th May 2013. Doesn't it feel like forever away?
