spice girls viva forever curtain call

It was an unusual evening at the début of the Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever! Victoria Beckham missed the red carpet arrivals and instead joined her fellow band mates on stage at The Piccadilly Theatre last night. After arriving late and missing an opportunity to pose with Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm, Beckham stopped for pictures with her family. She then sat in the crowd next to her family instead of the Spice Girls to watch the launch performance of Viva Forever!

Gathering together at the curtain call, the girls paid thanks to the crowd, cast and crew of the musical which is based on the Spice Girls catalogue of songs. "There are so many people to thank, thank you all for being here but the people I'd like to thank is the wonderful cast," said Mel C. While Emma paid tribute to Jennifer Saunders who wrote the script for the musical.

Victoria's ensemble was quite chic compared to that of her fellow glammed-up Spicies. She donned a pair of simple cropped Isabel Marant trousers, a plain white shirt from her own brand and a plum woollen coat from her own collection. She finished off her demure look with a pair of black Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Geri rocked up in the most formal outfit of the night - a powder blue strapless gown featuring a floaty tiered skirt and ruched bodice. I'm not sure that the occasion called for such a grand dress but hats off to her for making the most of it. After all, who can say they have a musical written about them?

Mel C and Mel B both opted for dark-coloured frocks in a olive green minidress and long black sequin gown respectively. Emma also went with Geri's blue theme by stepped out in a thigh-splitting long lace dress in an inky shade.

Sadly in spite of them banding together at the curtain call, last night it was pretty clear that girl power may be nothing more but a distant memory for at least one former Spice Girl.
