Sarah Burton receives OBE; says she like to maternity style Kate Middleton
It was Sarah Burton's turn yesterday to front up to Buckingham Palace and receive her Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the fashion industry. The creative director of Alexander McQueen famously designed *that* wedding dress for the Duchess of Cambridge last year.
Speaking of being tasked with such a job, she said yesterday: "She looked so beautiful, she's got such an amazing sense of grace and style, it was quite easy to make her look good. It was a real labour of love and a real collaboration, for me it was a huge highlight of my career."
Burton, who is currently pregnant with twins, also discussed how she would love to style Kate Middleton who is also soon to be a new mother. When asked if she would be designing any maternity clothing for Kate, she said: "I hope I will be."
Prince Charles awarded Sarah with her OBE yesterday. Following the ceremony she told reporters that she was very "humbled" and it was a "huge honour" to be there. It seemed a perfect fitting for Charles to present the designer with the award. In addition to her dressing Kate, Sarah has previously praised his sense of fashion.
"I think he's got an amazing sense of style and has quite a history with Savile Row and has impeccable taste," she said.
Burton is due to give birth to twins in February.
