Marion Cotillard to design a Lady Dior handbag (finally!)
After several seasons as the face of Christian Dior's Lady Dior handbag Marion Cotillard is now turning her hand to designing for the fashion house.
The French actress is about to whip up her own "personal" take on the Lady Dior bag. Described by the label as a "completely natural" next step in their collaboration with Marion, Dior have a released a behind-the-scenes video. It delves into the making of the collection with the actress guiding us through the early stages of the design process, from sketches to fabrics, stitching and her design influences. Some of these include her love of houndstooth, a photograph she took of night sky, and fabrics like velvet and quilting.
"Actually, I'm torn between a rock and roll type or something extremely simple," she says. "I would still like to put a strong Dior symbol on it."
"She has been the face of the Lady Dior bag since 2008, the epitome of a sophisticated and vibrant woman," said Dior in a statement. "It was, of course, completely natural that Marion Cotillard would go on to design her own bag, her personal Lady Dior, as modern as it is timeless."
