Givenchy to take a break from Couture
Givenchy has announced it will put its Couture line on semi-hiatus and will therefore not show at Paris in January. While few details as to why or for how long are unknown, Riccardo Tisci is believed to still work on couture pieces for the house and selected clients at its salons.
Givenchy couture will also continue on the backs of celebrities during the Met Costume Institute Gala which is slated for May. I wonder if we'll see any Givenchy couture during Hollywood's award season? Earlier this year Tisci created a couture ensemble for Madonna to wear during her Superbowl halftime performance.
The label stopped showing its couture collections via fashion shows in 2010, instead opting for more intimate presentations in Paris. Despite scaling back its couture production, Givenchy has not ruled out hosting couture presentations for the future. For now the house is committed to focussing its full attention on its ready-to-wear line.
