See more of Adriana Lima's baby bump for the 2013 Pirelli Calendar
We first blogged about Adriana Lima's pregnant appearance in the 2013 Pirelli Calendar back in July. Now here is a further look at her photo session for the famed publication. The Brazilian-born model is the first to be photographed for the calendar while pregnant.
Snapped by American photojournalist Steve McCurry in Rio de Janiero, the calendar captures Lima wearing a black cropped top and low slung skirt to reveal her gorgeous baby bump. The 31-year-old model gave birth to her second daughter, Sienna, in September. She then went on to walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show just weeks later. I guess they don't call 'em supermodels for nothing.
Next year's calendar also marks the first time that models won't be completely nude. McCurry has shied away from his predecessors which include Mario Sorrenti and Terry Richardson by featuring all 11 women clothed. Pirelli is known for its provocative nature so it will be interesting to see just how popular the 2013 version will be sans the nudity. It is believed that each model was chosen due to the various foundations and charities in which they support.
In speaking of his decision to keep his girls covered, McCurry said: "I would say I am a street photographer doing 'found situations'. You can photograph nudes anywhere. But these models are clothed, and each of them has her own charity. They are purposeful and idealistic people. So I wanted to photograph them in a special place, and Rio was perfect for this."
The 2013 Pirelli Calendar will be released in December.
