Has Ruth Wilson been listening to us? When she wore McQ to the Olivier Awards in April we berated the beautiful star for taking a showstopping catwalk look and modifying it to remove all the drama. So we were excited to see her hit another awards show - the Evening Standard Theatre Awards - in a look straight off the catwalk.

Ruth tackled one of the more difficult looks from Raf Simons' first Dior Haute Couture collection, a wool-crepe strapless dress with a split front worn over slim cigarette pants with pointed court shoes. The dress-over-trousers is a look best left in the 90s as far as we're concerned, but if it is going to return, it should be worn with exactly this level of attitude. Ruth manages to make this look chic and cool, not naff, which is testament to Simons' cutting and tailoring skills as much as Wilson's sharp cheekbones and angry pout.

Don't try this one at home, folks.
