Helena Bonham Carter took to a very soggy red carpet last night for the closing gala premiere of Great Expectations at the London Film Festival.

In the film, Bonham Carter plays the haunting spinster Miss Havisham, who is known for never removing her wedding dress. So it was very fitting that Helena herslef chose to wear her own take on bridal style for the premiere.

The tiered, corseted dress is a black and grey reworking of a a peach and white design from the Vivienne Westwood bridal collection.

With built in corsetry in the bodice for that infamous Westwood 'heaving bosom', the dress doesn't look like it has much breathing space, but it works perfectly on the ever-dramatic Helena. Things just wouldn't be the same if she chose the safe, boring option. It may always be Westwood, but it's never dull!
