Victoria Beckham changes it up for Spring / Summer 2013 at New York Fashion Week
For me, Victoria Beckham's Spring / Summer 2013 show has been a thing of great anticipation. Ever since those sleek and chic pencil dresses with contrast collars and military detailing sauntered down the New York runway for Autumn / Winter 2012, I have personally been dying to see what VB would come up with next after defining herself with such a trademark style last season.
Perhaps she's been inspired by the London 2012 Olympics, but this Spring / Summer 2013, it seems Victoria is feeling sporty. In a monochrome colour palette, with a hint of tangerine, she showcased a collection with shorter hemlines, a super minimalist aesthetic and a new fun and flippy feel.
The former Spice Girl, who was overwhelmed by the response to her collection and shed a few tears after the show, said, "Quality and luxury have always been the essence of the ready-to-wear and these remain the cornerstone of the collection while a new notion of versatility, modernity and ease have been introduced. Signature silhouettes and details have been referenced and progressed in new forms with contrast and texture. This has allowed me to continue to investigate embracing the female form and further explore the notion of how a woman can emotionally connect with her clothes and how they make her feel."
With Harper and David in full attendance, we don't blame the usually composed designer for letting herself go. So after all the hype, what's the verdict? We think Victoria has married her existing modern, refined and chic aesthetic with one that moves forward in an exciting direction. What do you make of VB's new offering?
