Somerset by Temperley: new pieces for AW12!
At the beginning of September, Gemma attended the launch of Somerset by Temperley at John Lewis, and last night we got a sneak peak at the second phase of the beautiful AW12 collection.
Designer Alice Temperley (a firm favourite with the Duchess of Cambridge aka Kate Middleton) has smashed all sales expectations with her more affordable high street range - in fact, Somerset by Temperely has proven so popular with the JL customers that it has become the fastest selling brand EVER for the retailer! As the first of the new AW12 pieces hit stores today, we thought we'd give you a run down of some of our favourite items and an insight into what's still to come...
Our best picks included a few on trend pieces that are available right now. The £120 oversized jacquard knit jacket inspired by Victoriana motifs is perfect for the cold weather, and can be thrown loosely over anything, or belt at the waist for an ultra chic look. We're certain this is one staple that will fly off the shelves - everyone wanted to try it on!
The £249 star detail column dress was the second piece to catch everyone's attention, with its elegant style and bohemian twist. With its classic shape and hand-sewn stars across the chest, it's safe to assume that this dress will be a hit with a broad spectrum of shoppers, from the Florence Welch loving indie girls to the fashion forward women looking for that perfect Christmas party number.
Other notable pieces yet to be released included a black version of the already popular £299 military cashmere camel cape, which I tried on (above) and didn't want to take off! We also fell in love with a sparkling floor length embellished jade gown detailing netting inserts on the skirt - now that is a show stopping dress!
