Rodarte's Spring / Summer 2013 Medieval mix at New York Fashion Week
Rodarte is probably the most interesting show we've come across at New York Fashion Week so far. The American sister sibling duo have kept true to form with a diverse, directional and statement-making collection for Spring / Summer 2013.
According to the fashion pack, "Medieval and fantasy role-playing games" were the source of inspiration for Kate and Laura Mulleavy's new season offering, which is one of those themes seen quite clearly throughout. An abundance of fabrics, textures, prints and styles were on offer, so it's difficult to know where to start. Perhaps with our favourites? The fringing. Yes. The fringing. We love love loved the fringing; in a tough biker style with longer length and injections of jewel colour, they were by far the standout items of the show.
If you're looking for more of a lady-like take, the brocade feel textures, metallic textures and ornate prints will be your thing. The prints took a Mary Katrantzou feel with geometrics, 3D effect patterns and ornate photographic type imagery.
