Maria Grachvogel debuts a modern Spring / Summer '13 at London Fashion Week
We all know and love Maria Grachvogel's London Fashion Week offering; season after season we ooh and aah at her abstract prints, draped dresses and flowing jumpsuits. There's no exception to this rule, but was it time that we could expect something a little different from the firmly established designer for Spring / Summer 2013?
When I took my seat at London's Somerset House for her show this lunchtime, I leant that surprisingly, yes, Maria has changed it up this SS13. The designer brought something new to the fashion week crowd in the form of ultimate modernity and chic minimalism, which was a refreshing sight intermixed with her usual signatures. Her trademarks, think contemporary and versatile items with the usual charm of clever cuts and fits, placed comfortably and aptly alongside a selection of whites, sheers, translucent neutrals, and super simple lines.
For Spring / Summer 2013, Maria says, "I love to allow inspiration to just flow when I create and for SS13, my woman is lean, modern and cool. The lines are cleaner and more architectural both in the cutting techniques and through the print. I am playing with sculptural pleats and contrasting textures."
We think Maria is right on point this Spring / Summer 2013, and along with barely there dewy make up and slept on french plaits with messy fly-aways, we're glad to see her collection move forward in a direction which sits well her signatures offering a real edge of modernism.
