Marc Jacobs goes monochrome stripes for Spring / Summer 2013 at New York Fashion Week
So stripes is it? And monochrome? That's what we've learnt all about from the Marc Jacobs Spring / Summer 2012 show today. Moving on swiftly from last season's mix of peasants and pimps (as we so aptly named it), Marc is vying towards a more wearable, pared back and mature aesthetic for the new Spring 2013 season.
The collection brought another monochrome colour palette with a red injection (are we sensing a theme here?), like pal Victoria Beckham's Spring 2012 debut, the American fashion designer kept colour to a bare minimum. Instead, there was a clear focus on geometric patterns spanning stripes and swirls which had an almost hallucinating type effect. Shapes were a mixture of formal two piece suits, scalloped hems, the mini-est miniatures, stand-up collars, bare midriffs and peplums (modelled by none other than Cara Delevigne).
My favourite element came in the form of the black and white embellished dresses, floor length gowns and jumpsuits, which added an almost art deco feel. Check out the show in the video below and ;let us know what you thought of the show in the comments!
