Country star Taylor Swift has been hitting the beach over the last week or so on the arm of new boyfriend Conor Kennedy.

Eschewing the usual popstar wardrobe of the skimpiest bikini possible, Taylor has gone retro with her choices, opting for a 1940s-inspired two piece by Esther Williams, a former competitive swimmer who made a name for herself in films during the Golden Age of Hollywood, and who now produced a swimwear range based on the pieces she wore back then.

Though the photography on the website is dated to say the least, over recent years Esther's modest suits have become cool again thanks to the revival of all things retro. This means the brand is now easier to find elsewhere - with some more modern photography (above)!

As well as buying the bikini direct from the Esther Williams website ($74 - a lot are made to order so can take a while to arrive) you can pick up Taylor's red polka dot version at Modcloth for $89.99 or buy it in the UK from fab retro retailer For Luna, which sells the pieces as separates (£32.45 and £27.50 - making £59.95 for the set). This is particularly useful if you're not one dress size all over, as a lot of other retailers only sell the top and bottoms together.

Taylor's also been spotted in the Esther Williams classic sheath swimsuit in black polka dot - also £59.95 at For Luna or $89.99 at ModCloth.
