La Redoute reminds me of my college years, when my flatmate owned loads of their knitwear, and I would spend my holidays scouring the internet and flyers in magazines for the best introductory offer to be able to buy some of my own.

But over the years, the French catalogue had all but disappeared from my consciousness until a recent series of designer collaborations (Christian Lacroix, Vanessa Bruno) put them back on my radar.

This season, it's the lesser-known labels that have grabbed my attention. Bridal designer Delphine Manivet has designed her first formalwear for Redoute, including the amazing 1940s inspired frill sleeved jersey gown (£129).

I also love the Madame a Paris silk polka dot dress (£109) which is available in two colours, which manages to avoid looking too young by the addition of a few inches to the hemline and the use of a regular collar instead of a peter-pan one.

If these pricey frocks don't float your boat, take a look at the sale instead. You can grab some really incredible bargains if you take the time to browse.
