This latest Olympics story is a beauty! Speculation that the Spice Girls will perform at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics has been fuelled after Victoria Beckham spoke of a reunion performance during a radio interview. She revealed to RTE Radio that she along with her fellow Spice Girls would be reuniting for a special performance during the closing ceremony of the games.

"I'm so respectful of my past and I love the other girls," the designer told RTE Radio. "We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we'll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more. I don't know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we'll see. If they're up for something then I certainly am. We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics."

The Daily Mail reports a source has confirmed the news that the Spice Girls have signed on to appear at the ceremony. The girl group hasn't sung together since 2008, and will reportedly perform their début 1996 hit, Wannabe, as one of two songs during the Olympic event. It is believed Geri Halliwell will bring back her famous Union Jack dress especially for the televised performance.

The news comes just a month after the Spice Girls appeared at a press conference to promote Viva Forever!, a new stage musical based on their songs. At the time they had agreed under their former manager, Simon Fuller, not to perform together at any point. However, they were said to be disappointed at not being involved in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June. They had reportedly turned down Gary Barlow's offer to perform, but this didn't stop Mel B and Mel C from tweeting their disappointment.

"Makes me sooo sad spice girls wasn't part of the queens jubilee, break my heart big time, i was so up for it, watched some of it on tv, amazing!" tweeted Mel B at the time.

The Spice Girls will join fellow legends of British music including David Bowie, Oasis, Sugababes, Arctic Monkeys, Duran Duran, Blur and Coldplay at the Olympic closing ceremony. The event will also include appearances from models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Alessandra Ambrosio. It's shaping up to be a massive one!
