It's true: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell & co. to appear at Olympics closing ceremony
Last month we blogged about the rumours that Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell were set to appear at the London Olympics closing ceremony. Now those reports have been confirmed! According to the Mirror Moss and Campbell will hit the catwalk at the event along with a bevy of other famous British models including Georgia May Jagger Stella Tennant, and Lily Cole.
Strutting their stuff in front of a global audience, the models will lead a tribute to British fashion set to songs such as 'Fashion,' and 'Rebel Rebel,' by David Bowie. Expect to see fashion from the likes of Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The models will follow in the footsteps of Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson, who appeared on a giant camera-shaped float which circled Stadium Australia at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
The London Olympics closing ceremony will be based around the theme, A Symphony of British Music, and will feature a long line of A-list stars. Think George Michael, Annie Lennox, Take That, The Who, and Jessie J. Other highlights will include Russell Brand singing a parody version of the Sex Pistols' song, 'Pretty Vacant' along with fellow comedians Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. He is also tipped to perform his own rendition of The Beatles' classic hit, 'I Am The Walrus.' Before the musical extravaganza is due to kick off, the iconic Notting Hill Carnivale will be re-enacted on stage and 160 Coldstream Guards will march to a version of Blur's 'Parklife'.
"We want to create a fabulous, emotional experience, something people remember for years to come. It will be an elegant mash-up of British music," said ceremony producer, Gavin Kent.
I think it is fair to say that this is one television event you won't want to miss.
