Hermès and Ferragamo outfit the French and San Marino Olympic teams
Two more design powerhouses are getting involved in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Hermès and Salvatore Ferragamo have been tasked with designing uniforms for the French and Republic of San Marino Olympic teams respectively.
Hermès has created outfits for the French Olympic equestrian show jumping and eventing teams. The fashion house has released a sketch, which includes a navy, blazer-style jacket, featuring red lapels. According to the Telegraph, the jackets comprise of "a light and flexible technical fabric [that] has been chosen by the company's in-house equestrian department, allowing for more comfortable movement."
Meanwhile Salvatore Ferragamo will outfit Olympic athletes from the Republic of San Marino. Influenced by the luxury label's Italian mainline, the uniforms combine sophistication with craftmanship as well as functionality. The tailored outfits include a pair of white cotton trousers, a silk crepe dress, preppy blue blazer, blue loafers and a pair of square toe heels featuring a bow. The San Marino Olympians will also tout one of Ferragamo's iconic bags - the Sofia - which has been given an update.
Hermès and Ferragamo join other designers including Stella McCartney (Great Britain), Ralph Lauren (USA), Prada and Emporio Armani (Italy) in dressing teams for this year's Summer Olympic Games. Can you feel the excitement in the air? The countdown is on!
